GUIDELINES

Here is a quick review of the required artwork specs. Meet these minimal requirements, and we will be off and running.

ARTWORK GUIDELINES

In order to ensure exceptional print quality for your artwork, please follow the guidelines listed below. Read them carefully to ensure there are no delays in the production process.

Typography
  • Font must be provided on disk or outline created in Illustrator for minimum text.
  • Avoid using thin rules or typeface in reverse areas.
  • A 4pt. minimum is suggested, and a rule no smaller than 1pt.
Acceptable Files
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • EPS and PSD files (Mac or PC)
  • High-resolution PDF and JPEG files
Proofs
  • Provide a color proof for 4-color process labels or a black and white proof for other labels.
  • An exact color match cannot be guaranteed for 4-process labels, but every effort will be made to do so.
  • There may be some variances in matching PMS spot colors.
Scanned Images
  • Image scans must be at least 300 DPI and 100 percent (actual size).
  • Do not change the resolution to 300 DPI without rescanning the image.
  • Color scans must be in CMYK.
  • Color scans should be saved as .tiff files or .jpg files at maximum quality.
  • Do not change the file name of the image after placing it into the document.
Color
  • Color must be converted to CMYK or PMS (no RGB).
  • Pantone colors provide the best results.
  • Gradients can be used, but our printing process does not allow for 0 percent fades.
  • Gradient screens should be at the minimum of 3 percent.
  • Do not create any traps; we will do it for you.
  • Bleeds should be 1/8″.
Formats
  • Illustrator files are preferred to avoid extra charges.
  • Photoshop is also acceptable.
  • We cannot accept low-resolution (72dpi) files extracted from the internet.
  • Line art images with multiple colors should be created using a vector-based drawing program.
